Can't wait for the Defender Evoque...

defequ er.....?

The lack of V6 is troubling.
Or a hybrid that amps up performance... I mean, why not stick the 2.0 hybrid like in the bigger RRs and make a 400hp beast?

Can’t see out of it, but the target demographic doesn’t care.

I can barely see out of my stinger too, but I actually prefer it... if someone is tailgating me I can’t see their headlamps, so if they’re running their high beams, I can’t tell (nor care)

Defuque.

I like having a good view while changing lanes/turning/reversing. It seems some don’t look before doing any of those, so tiny windows won’t matter.

Wait is that supposed to be new?
It looks like the old one with a body kit

Modern cars are so frustrating. You could hide a marching band behind the A and B pillars in my Tacoma, a vehicle designed in the mid-00's. 13 year later, you may as well install frosted glass.

I use the camera to reverse, and I check my rear view mirrors to change lanes. The only time I use the rear view mirror is on the highway (and I’m barely on it, so)

It does, doesn’t it. But hey, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

I had a rental GLA once and nearly slammed my head on the B-pillar trying to back up . It’ s ridiculous.

That doesn’t sound entirely safe.

And add to that short slit-like windows like on the Stepfordian coed-esque Evoque, you get the outward visibility of a tank.
A relative had an HHR, worst A-pillars ever, completely obstructive. I had a rental Challenger a couple weeks ago that was also kind of like driving partially blind. Pillars and visibility are areas where old cars excel.

I mean...I think I’m covered.... I have blind spot monitoring too so...

I still check everything possible. I use all mirrors and camera when reversing/parking , mirrors and head check when changing lanes, and I have BSM too.
In the old car, with only one side mirror and a rear view mirror much smaller than on a modern car, it all seems easier, as it has thin pillars and wraparound glass.

Oh I do use my mirros when parking as well, there’s a setting to make them go down and show the wheels... I can park pretty close to curbs without hitting them.

You do realise this is a Land Rover. Changing something completely but having it still looking much the same is something they’ve done for 60 years.

A V6 Evoque will never happen. Despite weighing as much as a small planet...its quite small.
Besides, if you want performance our of a little LR ....then buy an E -Pace.

I like it, but not as much a I like the Velar. Mmmmmm.

You’ll probably prefer the price tho

Yeah, MB has had the auto dipping mirrors for at least 20 years now, I think. Wonderful feature, as when I have to parallel park, I like to do it with precision. Still, I will use my head along with the nannies when starting out.

Sure, but the Velar isn’t too far off the Evoque. It’s just one size up, after all.

I think I’d take the Macan

I keep forgetting the Macan exists. It just doesn’t interest me, and I’ve even driven a couple.
However the Velar - and Volvo XC60 and upcoming Lincoln Aviator - are all three vehicles I could see myself owning once I get to the point where I’m replacing my gen-1 XC90.
